Stop employees from stealing from you by reseting
the computer
clock when they "punch in." If you have a system where employees check
themselves in and out when they arrive at and leave work, all they have
to do is right click on the clock on the system
tray and then selecting the option to change the computer clock
setting. After they have clocked themselves in, they just reset the
clock and start work. There are worse cases. Some hotels have a system
where the computer automatically calculates
the bill when the clerk checks customers in and out. In at least
one such hotel, when the customers informed the clerk that they planned
to pay in cash, the clerk set the clock back a day, checked the people
out, then reset the clock. The computer records then showed that they
had stayed for
one less day in the records, but the clerk charges them for their full
stay and pockets the difference. There have been similar instances
where clients pay by the hour for services such as tanning salons and
the cashiers, after taking the payments in cash, reset the clocks so
that the records showed shorter times. All of these are taking money
from businesses.
Clock Guard is a Windows
95/98/2000/ME/XP/NT/Vista/Windows 7 software
program that prevents tampering with the computer clock. Unlike some
clock control
programs, Clock Guard does
not require an Internet connection. It does not automatically set the
computer
clock to the correct time by dialing up an atomic clock somewhere. It
works
by blocking access to programs that change the system clock and also by
preventing sudden changes in the computer clock. You can deactivate
clock
protection with the password you select when you install it. This
allows
you to set the clock if it becomes wrong. For more information, see the
Clock Guard page on
